AI-Guardian exists because the two fastest-growing risks inside modern companies — shadow AI and regulated-data leakage — share the same root cause: there is no control layer between a human typing a prompt and a third-party model reading it.
Our mission
We believe generative AI should be the single biggest productivity unlock of the decade — and that it should never cost a company its customer trust, its IP, or its GDPR posture. Our mission is to make that possible by default, for every employee, on every prompt, without slowing them down.
What we're building
A control layer that sits at the exact point where sensitive data would otherwise leave the browser. On-device detection, transparent blocking, redaction that preserves task utility, and an audit trail that gives compliance teams the evidence they've been missing. Everything above that layer — the Admin Dashboard, the risk reporting, the integrations — exists to turn the raw signal into governance your organisation can actually run on.
Why now
Between 2023 and 2026 the question changed from “should we block ChatGPT at the firewall?” to “how do we govern AI usage that our people already can't live without?” The EU AI Act, the growing severity of shadow-AI incidents, and the slow realisation that traditional DLP wasn't built for text boxes make the answer urgent. We're building the tool we wish we'd had when we were on the other side of the table.
What we value
- Privacy is a feature, not a line item. Prompt content never leaves the device. Everything else follows from that.
- Evidence over opinions. An audit log beats a policy PDF. We build for the reality of compliance work, not the slide that describes it.
- Ship to reduce fear, not to create it. Our UI tells users why something was blocked and offers a sensible next step. Shame is not a control.
- Small team, serious craft. We ship fast because we care about every edge case: theme detection, region rules, retention defaults, modal focus order. The small things are the product.
Where we are
AI-Guardian is a small, distributed team building from Budapest. We're currently in private beta; Enterprise customers are onboarded manually after a short compliance consultation, so the product meets their specific regulatory context from day one.
